One way of doing so is by adopting the art of hygge to make every experience with your loved ones in your home a colorful, beautiful memory. Interestingly, you can easily hygge-up your home by making small changes, and adding warm home elements like a chunky wool rug can instantly give dull areas a completely new look. So, in today’s Sukhi blog, we will tell you more about this perfect winter rug. We will first explain how they are made and what makes them such a great choice of rug for your home. And, finally, we will give you some tips on how to decorate your home with a beautiful chunky wool rug!

    Let’s dive right in!

    What are chunky wool rugs?

Chunky wool rugs add warmth and comfort to any room, making them a perfect choice for winter décor. Made with the finest wool and weaved into the traditional handcraft, these chunky wool rugs add a contemporary touch to your living space. They are very versatile and can be added to a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, or any other room in your house. This thick, warm, and incredibly soft wool rug attracts all!

These rugs are made with superior grade wool and highly skilled craftsmanship. Indeed, when you take a closer look at these types of chunky wool rugs, you will see a distinct and intricate pattern of thick knitted wool. It speaks out of the time, passion, and skill used to create a chunky wool rug to utmost perfection.

Walking on chunky wool rugs feels like stepping on a fluffy warm cloud! They make moving around the house smooth and beyond reasoning comfortable. These rugs are reversible (means both sides can be used) making them easy to maintain and clean. The result is a rug that is incredibly durable and can be used for decades.

    difference-between-chunky-wool-rug-and-knitted-wool-rug

In case you are wondering what differentiates a chunky wool rug from a knitted wool rug, well, that’s a whole new state of affairs! Knitted wool rugs are another type of cozy rugs but they differ from chunky wool rugs in certain ways. Chunky wool rugs are much thicker, soft, and a little looser than knitted wool rugs. Knitted wool rugs are created with a different technique with a loom and have tighter knots making them a bit more robust than their chunky counterparts.

How are chunky wool rugs made?

High-quality chunky wool rugs are made with wool yarn obtained from premium sources. No artisan can use their magic without a high-grade raw material, which is why Sukhi focuses so much on getting the best quality from New Zealand.

The raw mulesing-free wool is carefully carded, handled, and brushed before hand-spinning it into soft yarn. Using the cold soapy water, the wool is cleaned, dried, and taken for waiving through giant needles. Skilled artisans put their effort and love into knitting these rugs using an ancient technique.  This process is long and time-consuming, but following it adds years to the wool's durability, quality, and softness.

Why choose a chunky wool rug this winter

Adding a handmade rug not only completely transforms a room but also has various practical benefits. A change in weather can affect everyone’s mood and behavior. But what's better than hugging your loved ones while watching a movie, sipping hot chocolate in front of a fireplace, or hosting a family dinner for your loved ones? Comfort is only one benefit- these rugs can also make your house look welcoming, less noisy, and it even serves to cushion a fall! Let us go deeper into these reasons and explain them below:

Chunky wool rugs brighten up any space

Winters can be rather gloomy if the color scheme of your interior is dark. So it’s time to brighten things up as much as possible! By adding a light-colored chunky wool rug, like beige, baby pink, and white on a dark floor, it can create the perfect balance and instantly lighten up a room. See how easy that was?

Chunky wool rugs enhance the color scheme

You might be thinking, you have to change everything in the room, from paint to furniture to change the color scheme. But what if we told you, there are ways to get around this?  Yes! If you add a contrasting chunky wool rug, coupled with some subtle matching accessories, you just found yourself an easy way to completely change the color scheme of your room! Such small, yet impactful additions can lift the color scheme effortlessly.

Chunky wool rugs warm up the whole house

Does your house use a hardwood floor or tiles? If that’s the case and you feel that usually leads to a cold and uncomfortable winter, then a chunky wool rug can surely help! These luxurious rugs retain heat and are great winter insulators, making mobility easier without stepping on the chilly floors again. Doesn’t this make chunky wool rugs the best choice for a winter home décor? We definitely think so!

    green-chunky-wool-rug-in-living-room

    It can absorb noise

Chunky wool rugs on floors can absorb the noise, reducing the sound of squeaky feet on hard floors or heavy footsteps on hard tiles. It can also absorb the noise from the air. Sounds echo inside houses when all doors are closed during winters, which is why the smallest creaks are amplified in volume. Keep all those echoes and unwanted noises at bay with a chunky wool rug. You can finally enjoy a nice nap or even sleep in on a cold winter morning without being disturbed by any activity happening in the house!

Best chunky wool rug decorating ideas

Here are our top recommendations for using chunky wool rugs in home decorations this holiday season. To learn how to live a hygge life, just read on!

    Add it into your bedroom

Most people find bedrooms as their favorite room to spend time relaxing and resting. And to make these experiences even more enjoyable, you can decorate your room to showcase your taste, style, and preferences. It’s not just about picking the furniture or choosing a color scheme, but also accessories and decorative items, like, mirrors, art, or rugs, can make a huge difference. You can place a chunky wool rug right next to the bed so that every winter morning you step on a warm, bright fluffy chunky wool rug and not a cold floor. Your feet and entire body will never be more grateful. If you want to flaunt your choice, you can also place the chunky wool rug over the bed and use it as a blanket!

    dark-chunky-wool-rug-in-bedroom

Use it in the living room

The best family time to be spent in a common space. While bedrooms are private, the living room is an ‘open for all’ area, reflecting a welcoming and friendly vibe. The paint, wallpaper, couch, table, and everything else has its significance, but when it comes to décor, there are only a few things that can elevate your living room with minimal effort. Add a chunky wool rug in front of your fireplace for extra sitting space. You can also place floor cushions or ottomans along with it to make it even more inviting.

Place it in your children’s playroom

If you want to turn your children’s playroom into a cool, fun place but don’t want to change much of the interior or wallpapers, here is what you can do. Measure the free space, and select a soft chunky wool rug that could go well in it. You can place tiny toy racks or storage boxes for toys around this rug. This way, your child can enjoy his playtime without having to drag everything to the bed. Especially if you have toddlers who never really care to wear shoes or socks, chunky wool rugs make the best choice for their playrooms.

Add it to your workspace or study

If there is a semi-permanent study area or work station in your house, you can add up to its comfort level by placing a neutral chunky wool rug. Usually, these designated work or study areas are free from distractions, away from the noise, and perfect light and temperature. Using a chunky wool rug under your feet not only feels nice but also relaxes the mind, helping the brain to work better and faster. Also, if you have to go and get anything while working, stepping on a soft yarn rug is a lot better than walking on a bare floor, so it’s a total win-win idea! warm-and-comfy-baby-nursery-with-felt-ball-rug

So today, in this blog post, we will tell you all there is to know about decorating a baby’s nursery to perfection. We’ll tell you exactly what you need to have in your ideal nursery and also show you how to add plenty of personality with our felt ball rugs. Every baby deserves a cozy, safe, and fun environment to grow happily and healthily. With this intention in mind, let’s dive right in!

Easy ways to decorate every baby nursery

Is this your first time decorating a nursery? Are you unsure what to add to it? Don’t stress out; take a deep breath and check out this list of items that we compiled for you. We believe that with these following home elements, you cannot go wrong with creating a modern and stylish nursery, without compromising on comfort and function!

    Choose your nursery theme

Firstly, we need to know what we are working with, that is, what style or theme we are going for in our baby room. Are we planning to create a baby princess look or a jungle look, or maybe have some fun with farm animals? Let your creativity fly while choosing what theme you think is best. If you need inspiration, check Pinterest, Instagram, or baby magazines! There are plenty of ideas out there to help you! Once you know what you want, you can start choosing all the other elements according to your theme to create a clean harmonious space.

    Choose the right color

Once you know what your overall theme is, you can start thinking about the colors of your wall paint, the furniture, and any other accessory you wish to add, When it comes to color, stick to lighter and warmer tones as these softer colors promote a calm environment for your baby to thrive in. Always remember to check that all of these colored home elements, like paint, furniture, and linen, are non-toxic and safe for babies.

    Invest in good bed linen

There is plenty of lovely bed linen out there for our little ones! But while we can be attracted to vibrant colors, and fancy patterns, make sure that you are checking the quality above all other things. Your baby will most likely be spending many hours of the day in a crib. In fact, the Baby Center explains that all newborns spend up to 18 hours sleeping in 24 hours. So while staying within the colors and style of your theme, remember to choose products that are made of cotton or soft hypoallergenic materials that will not cause any irritation to your baby.

    Add a comfortable chair

You definitely need a comfortable chair in your nursery for when you are holding or nursing your baby. We think a rocking chair is ideal for these purposes. There is something so comforting about a mother slowly rocking their precious one to sleep while singing them a lullaby. One more thing to think about is whether the chair is easy to move so that you can drag it anywhere in the room when you need to. You may also add a fluffy pillow or cushion to support your lower back and feel even more comfortable.

    comfortable-nursing-chair-in-baby-nursery

    @meldesign_

    Invest in rugs and carpets

Many parents prefer wall-to-wall carpets in their baby’s nursery, mainly for comfortable walking. If you are leaning towards that, just make sure that your carpets are hypoallergenic. The risk of allergies is highest with carpets, and the newborn baby doesn’t have a high immunity like infants and adults. If you are unsure, a better idea is to find rugs that can be added anywhere in the nursery.

At Sukhi, we always encourage our customers to add rugs to their nurseries, and for good reason! Not only do we guarantee that our rugs are of the highest quality and safe for babies, but they also enhance the entire look of your room in one instance! We think that the best choice of rug for your nursery is felt ball rugs. You can add any round or rectangle felt ball rugs in front of the nursing chair or crib. You can also place a soft felt ball rug near the play area. They are made of 100% pure wool, non-toxic and reversible making them safe and durable.

Why you should add rugs to your baby’s nursery

Decorating the nursery is no less complicated than decorating any other room in your house! Putting up everything before the baby arrives can be somewhat stressful and overwhelming. We definitely understand why! As a parent, you want everything to be perfect to welcome your little one. But don’t worry, we got you covered. With this blog, you will be able to create your own nursery the way you envisioned it to be. Your self-made DIY nursery will end up looking like a thoroughly planned project, worthy of Pinterest!

Here’s one simple yet impactful way to elevate your nursery room within seconds! Adding a felt ball rug! We believe that soft and cozy felt ball rugs can add colors to make your nursery really pop! Simply add a vibrant felt ball rug if you want to make the room look colorful. It’s a child’s room, so comfort is as important as the outlook. You will most certainly be spending a lot of time in your baby’s nursery so adding something that brings warmth, padding, and stuffing will make it easy to stand, walk, or sit on the hard floor. If you are not a fan of a color spectrum and are looking for a more minimalist look, try going for a neutral colored felt ball rug.

How to pick the right felt ball rug for your nursery

Now that it is clear that rugs, especially felt ball rugs, make a perfect add-on to the baby nursery, the next step is to learn how to pick the right one. Most people go for anything that looks good to them. Although love at first sight for shopping is fine for most things, when this shopping involves a baby, you know that you can’t experiment. So to help you, here is a step-by-step guide on how to choose the right rug for your baby’s nursery:

    Step 1: Measure the space

The first thing you should do is measure the nursery and the open area available for styling. Most people like to add a rug near the door, in front of the crib, or at your chair's foot space. After your baby learns to walk, you can also add another felt ball rug around his play area so that he can comfortably sit and play with his toys.

    Step 2: Set your preferences

Rugs, mostly felt ball rugs come in various shapes, sizes, and color schemes. If the nursery’s color scheme looks monotonous to you, adding a bright colored or multicolored felt ball rug can cheer it up instantly. The room's shape and size will help you decide whether you should go for a round-shaped felt ball rug or a rectangle felt ball rug.

  3. How to choose the perfect rug color for your living room

Rug lovers, we hear you! Picking the right rug color can be a really hard decision. And when you are about to buy a high-quality handmade rug, you want to get that color right! In today’s blog, we are going to address how to pick the right color rug for your living room so that you can confidently buy your next rug with zero regrets!

So, grab a cup of tea and get ready: we are about to answer your burning questions when it comes to choosing the right rug color for your living room. Let’s go.

How to choose the best rug color?

At Sukhi, we love creativity in all their shapes and forms. So we strongly encourage you to be as playful as you want with rug colors! We even have a visualizer tool you can use to have some fun with our different rugs!

But we do know that there are some important things to consider when it comes to colors. Of course, we all want the colors in our living room to blend in well together and create harmony in the space. So to help you decide on your next living room rug color, let’s explore when to use neutral versus bold colors.

    1. When to use neutral colors for your rug

Many of us tend to pick the safe side and buy a rug in neutral tones. Although these rugs are absolutely gorgeous, there are specific reasons to choose them so that they elevate your decor.

    neutral-colored-beni-ourain-rug-in-living-room

What we like to do before deciding on whether to get a neutral-colored rug is to see how the rest of the room is looking currently. If you have a lot of color and texture going on in your room lready, you want to pick a neutral-colored rug. This brings harmony to the whole room and creates a warm cozy effect.

Light grays, beige, brown and peachy tones are all great options when you want colors that can blend in well with the environment even when you decide to switch things up!

Light and neutral colors also work well in small spaces as they can make your living space appear bigger and brighter. This makes it ideal for decorating your small office space or baby’s room!

    2. When to use bold colors for your rug

On the other hand, more adventurous hearts cannot resist a bold-colored rug! But a bold-colored rug does not have to be intimidating or hard to pull off. In fact, it is a great way to make a statement and show your personality!

Our advice when choosing a bold-colored rug is to scan your surroundings and make sure the biggest piece of furniture in the room is a neutral color. This way, you are maintaining the focus on your bold-colored rug instead and turning it into the focal point of the room.

    bold-colored-felt-ball-rug-in-living-room

Also, try to match or complement the color of other smaller accessories in the room. Use the bold color as an accent that you can reproduce or complement in the living room. For instance, you can match the color of your rug with similar or complementary shades in the cushions, curtains and other small elements to tie everything together harmoniously.

Bold-colored rugs work as amazing centerpieces of any living room and can be very versatile as well. Shift them to another room when you decide to redocorate or what about using them as a wall decoration (yes, for real!)?

    3. When to use rugs with colorful patterns

If you are anything like us, you appreciate an eye-catching ethnic pattern on your rug. You may, however, hesitate to buy yourself a rug with colorful patterns as you might worry that it will be too busy for your living room. So here’s what you should know when it comes to vibrant patterns.

Pay attention to the design motifs on your patterned rug and how those blend well in your living room. For instance, if most of your upholstery has more solid and muted colors, you can elevate your room by adding a bright patterned rug. But if you already have colorful and patterned curtains, you might prefer a patterned rug that is more neutral-colored to maintain the aesthetic of the living room.

  4. How to tell if an oriental rug is authentic?

Are you mesmerized by precious and unique oriental rugs? If you are reading this blog post, you probably are! And we certainly agree that oriental rugs have a way of catching the eye like no other rug.

    eye-catching-cream-oriental-rug-in-bedroom

    @laurakinterior

But, how do you tell if the oriental rug you are about to buy is truly authentic? Well, as rug experts for nearly 8 years now, we decided to create this blog post to help you out! First, we are going to describe what oriental rugs are. Then we will show you the delicate and quite amazing process of making these beautiful rugs. After that, we will answer some burning questions you probably have and give you some Sukhi tips when it comes to buying your next oriental rug.

    Let’s dive right in!

    What are the oriental rugs?

Oriental rugs have been used for centuries as a piece of art and aesthetics to make homes beautiful and artistic while also being practical. Many rug owners see them as a beautiful painting in their living space.

Often people imagine that oriental rugs come from countries of the Orient, such as the Middle East, India or China. However, the reality is that you can describe an oriental rug not so much by where it comes from, but more from how it is made! Indeed oriental rugs are made in a very special way. At Sukhi, we design and make our modern oriental rug collection in India!

Oriental rugs are not only a home piece, but a spectrum of different arts, cultures, traditions, faiths, folks, practices, and thoughts of people. Artists who made these beautiful rugs have been very much involved in the process of each cycle of these rugs, working so patiently and artistically to give life to these beautiful pieces.

In the West, there is a continuous and rising interest in this piece of art among the rug admirers, buyers, and connoisseurs. Hence the demand for more and more information about oriental rugs is increasing for the best selection, quality, price, purchase, care, origin, patterns, and overall ability to judge original oriental rug among the fake ones.

    How are Oriental rugs made?

To really know how to differentiate an authentic rug from a fake one, we have to look at how authentic oriental rugs are made.

    indian-artisans-making-colorful-oriental-rug

Oriental rugs are made up of various fibers such as wool of sheep, goat, yak, cotton, silk, jute, hairs of camel, and even horse. An oriental rug is woven by hands on a loom with warps, wefts, and piles made mainly of natural fibers. In more aesthetic rugs, silk, gold, and silver metal threads are also used. At Sukhi, we add bamboo silk, a sustainable and eco-friendly material, to our rugs to add a dazzling sheen to our products.

Each rug is made by hand, resulting in each having a unique design or pattern. These designs represent the thoughts and imagination of artisans, particularly by the tribal artisans. When you buy an oriental rug, you truly are buying a story being passed on from generation to generation. This makes these heirloom rugs priceless!

After rug artisans weave the rug, its borders are fastened and the pile is clipped to get a smooth and even surface. Finally, the rug is cleaned and washed, ready to find a new loving home!

How to make sure an oriental rug is handmade?

A really easy way of spotting if an oriental rug was made by a machine is checking its edges. Since, authentic oriental rugs are hand-made, it is expected to see minor flaws and uneven lengths. Basically, if your rug looks flawless or too perfect, you might be looking at a machine-made one!

You should also be seeing this unevenness in the knots of the rug as well. Simply flip the rug over and look closely at the way the knots were made. An individual knot cannot be detected at the machine-made rugs while you can detect the individual knots at the handmade rugs.

    luxurious-hand-knotted-oriental-rug-in-bedroom

And as a general rule of thumb, have a look at a few different rugs with the same pattern. No two handmade oriental rugs should look the same. You should be able to spot small differences which make each oriental rug design unique and remarkable.

4 Important things to consider when buying an authentic oriental rug

To guide you on how to pick your oriental rug and make sure you are finding the right rug for you, here are some factors that are very important to consider:

    Patterns

When it comes to oriental rugs, you will often be given the choice to buy a hand knotted or a hand tufted rug. While there are a few differences between these two types of oriental rugs, there is a simple way to tell which is which. Start by flipping your oriental rug over. You should be able to see the same pattern and colour on the backside of your oriental rug.

Here’s our gorgeous Rajendra rug to illustrate our point. See how vibrant and detailed the pattern is even on the other side of the rug

    vibrant-colors-on-back-of-authentic-oriental-rug

Authentic hand tufted rugs have a foundation added to their backing and are not made by tying individual knots. This makes for a more affordable rug which is as beautiful as the hand knotted one!

    Weight

The next thing you should judge is the weight of the rug which should feel heavy. Of course if you are buying your online, this might get a little more complicated. But if you are on our Sukhi website, you can simply reach out in our chat box or by email and ask us about the weight of your desired rug! We love sending our customers more information and pictures whenever we can!

And if you look at an authentic oriental rug lying flat on the floor, you will notice that it’s edges and borders don’t curl. So next time you are rug-shopping, make sure to keep an eye out for that!

    Material

At Sukhi, we make our modern oriental rugs by using high quality 100% wool from New Zealand. A good way to know if the wool is of good quality is to burn a slight surface of the rug with a matchstick and observe the black spot it leaves. If the burnt residue is brushed off without leaving even the slightest patch then it is of top quality. Also, the burnt residue leaves a peculiar smell and can be easily recognized!

You can also rub your hand over the surface of the rug with the nap and notice a feeling of electric smoothness the same as when you feel when stroking the back of a cat in cold weather.

    touching-soft-oriental-rug-with-close-up

    Price

Authentic oriental rugs are often described as luxury rugs by connoisseurs around the world. With the high quality material, complexity of the design, incredible craftsmanship, and aesthetic finish, they tend to be on the higher end with a higher price tag. If you feel like the price of your oriental rug is unrealistically low, you probably found yourself a fake oriental rug. At Sukhi, our lean business model allows us to offer our precious rugs at affordable prices.

Another important thing to note is that, oriental rugs become more valuable with age, unlike machine-made rugs that are worn out and lose value with age. This is because colors used in old oriental rugs become more harmonious with time and give them a great appearance. Decorating your living space with an oriental rug as centerpiece is the best investment you can ever make for your home!

Buy oriental rugs the ethical way

As advocates of ethical buying, we pride ourselves on keeping strong ethics at the core of our business and in everything we do.

Ethical buying essentially means that you are ensuring workers have decent working conditions, raw materials being used are sustainable and renewable and as a consumer, you are being offered better prices. When supporting ethical products, you make a difference in the world.

Unfortunately in the world of rug-making, we sometimes see unethical and abhorrent industry practices employed for manufacturing these rugs by using child labor and severely underpaid workers from the developing world.

When buying your new rug, you want to make sure the rug is fair trade. If you want to learn more about this topic, check our blog post on the importance of fair trade in the world!

Industry and consumers can fulfill their social responsibility and leadership to ensure that these beautiful home products always come along with fair and ethical practices.

We hope you enjoyed this blog post and will be referring back to it when you are buying your next oriental rug! At Sukhi, we take authenticity, quality and fair trade seriously. So we invite you to shop for rugs online on our website or check out our visualizer to see exactly how your next rug will look like in your home!

  5. Feng Shui for beginners: how to decorate in the 8 areas of the Bagua map (part 3 of 3)

To spread the basics of the Feng Shui artistry in home decor, we created a short series of three articles on our Sukhi blog. If you missed the first two, you may want to start with the first article about the energy of colors and continue to the basic notions of how to map your home using the most effective tool in the Feng Shui,  the Bagua map.

To give you a quick recap, in the first article, “Feng Shui for beginners: energies of color, we learned how the flow of energy, chi, expresses through one of the most powerful tools in Feng Shui: color.

Colors correspond to the Five Elements: WOOD, WATER, METAL, FIRE AND EARTH. By knowing what each element brings into your home, you can decide what energy you want to create in your space and, thus, what colors to use.

    the-5-elements-of-feng-shui

In the second article, Feng Shui for beginners: the energy map of your home, we learned how to apply the Bagua mapping system to your living spaces.

We got familiar with how the Bagua map looks and how it works when we apply it in our own home. The first step was to print the map, then place it at the entrance of the home with the North point coinciding with the entrance, and then visualize how the Bagua fits in your home.

After deciding which elements and life areas are most suitable for each part of your home, you were able to make a diagnosis: in which areas in your home you want to bring fresh and positive energy, in accordance with the Bagua map. The purpose is to make each area strong in order to achieve your full potential in all areas of your life: career, family, knowledge, reputation, love and other important areas.

In today's blog, we go deeper into the knowledge of the Bagua, through the 8 Feng Shui areas, their Element and their characteristics, for more practical use.

The 8 Feng Shui areas explained

    North Bagua Area

Life Area: brings luck in your Career and Life Path areas

    Feng Shui Element: Water

    Colors: Blue and Black

    north-bagua-area-blue-and-black

    Home decor:

    1. Identify the area of your home that coincides with the North area in the Bagua Map.

    2. Add water elements. Stretch your imagination: it can be art paintings, fabrics, pillows, blue oriental rugs, curtains, wallpapers. Having an actual water fountain is very beneficial: it has a calming effect and brings fresh energy to the area. Use strong elements that will make this area distinctive and with plenty of good energy.

    3. Use more blue and black for the water elements. Painting a wall in these colors is tricky and is not suitable for some rooms, such as the bedroom. Choose a lighter tone of blue when going for that.

    4. Wood weakens water, and metal strengthens water, so make sure you avoid the wooden and green tones in this area.

    5. The Water elements are enhanced by using mirrors. In Feng Shui, the mirrors are highly recommended, as they can change the flow of energy!

    Northeast Bagua Area

Life Area: brings luck in your Knowledge and Skills areas

    Feng Shui Element: Earth

    Colors: Sand, Beige, Yellow

Use earthy colors and yellow crystals and Chinese traditional items in these tones and salt rock lamps. Why not use a stone rug as well?

    4. Include the fire element: set up a fireplace, light up some candles, use art and wallpapers of sunsets and fire, in tones of orange and red. Painting a focal wall in an earthly tone is considered to be very beneficial.

  6. Feng Shui for beginners: the energy map of your home (part 2 of 3)

We can add more value to our life by using the practice of Feng Shui to decorate our homes for positive, balanced energy. It may seem complicated to put into practice, but Feng Shui is relatively easy to understand.

    feng-shui-decor-in-home

In a previous post, “Feng Shui for beginners: energies of color”, we learned how the flow of energy, chi, is expressing through one of the most powerful tools in Feng Shui: color. Colors correspond to the Five Elements: WOOD, WATER, METAL, FIRE, AND EARTH. By knowing what each element brings into your home, you can decide what energy you want to create in your space and, thus, what colors to use.

    the-5-elements-of-feng-shui

We identified each element and the colors that associate with them in part 1 of our Feng Shui blog series. In this blog post, part 2, we will introduce you to another important principle of the Feng Shui philosophy: the Bagua map.

So once you’ve decided on what elements and colors you wish to incorporate in your living space, the next step is to make a map of your home using the Bagua mapping system.

    Here’s how it works.

The Bagua – the Feng Shui energy map of your house

The Bagua is an ancient, powerful Feng Shui tool that connects your life with the energy of your home. This way, you can trace the areas where more attention and energy are needed.

There are two types of Bagua maps: the traditional Bagua and the Western Bagua. If you are new to Feng Shui, it’s better to pick one school of thought and stick to it so you don’t get overwhelmed. Since we are delving deep into the Eastern wellness philosophies in this article, we will focus on the classical Bagua.

The translation of Bagua in Chinese is “8 areas”. But the Bagua actually has 9 areas if we include the center. This center area is considered to be the 9th area as it encompasses the energy of all other areas and belongs to the element of Earth.

How to work with the traditional Bagua map

    the-feng-shui-bagua-map

    By YoliNatasha on Pinterest

Step 1: Where to start with your Bagua Map

The first step is to print the map and start at the entrance of your home. This is the point where all the energy comes into the house. As you look at the Bagua Map, the entry of the house should coincide with the North point of the Bagua. Imagine the shape of the Bagua and where the rooms would be. Depending on the shape of your home visualize the Bagua to fit your home. Congrats! Now you have a clear perspective of the Bagua map of your home!

Step 2: Decide what areas you want to work on

Take your time to understand the information about how the Bagua system works. Analyze your home and start seeing it with fresh eyes according to the map. Then decide which areas of your life you want to bring fresh and positive energy in.

Treat each part of the house with love and awareness and you will be surprised by how the energy starts to flow in its natural way, effortlessly.

And that’s it! Pretty simple, right? As we said, Feng Shui does not have to be complicated!

    Your next step

In the next article, we will go deeper on the knowledge of the Bagua, through the 8 Feng Shui areas, their Element, their characteristics, and how to apply it in your home. We also draw some inspiration from our beautiful hand-made rugs to help you bring Feng Shui into your homes.

  7. Feng Shui for beginners: energies of Colour (part 1 of 3)

Within the last decade, a mindful and balanced lifestyle has become more popular than ever before in the Western world. At Sukhi, we recognize all the benefits of living more consciously. So a few weeks ago we reached out to the Eastern cultures to learn more from their century-old practices. We found that beyond yoga or meditation, we can add more value to our lifestyle using the practice of Feng Shui in decorating our homes.

    practicing-feng-shui-in-home-decor

We decided to create a 3-part blog series about Feng Shui to help you understand the fundamental of this amazing practice and encourage you to use it in your own homes and spaces. In Part 1, we cover one of the basic principles of Feng Shui: color. In Part 2, we walk you through how to use the Bagua Map in your homes. And finally, in part 3, we explore the Bagua concept more and inspire you with some Feng Shui home decor tips

    Let’s dive right in!

Feng Shui and the basics of color

Feng Shui is over 6,000 years old and comes from ancient Chinese culture. It is based on understanding the flow of energy, “chi”, that moves through the universe and influences our daily lives.

The practice of Feng Shui is complex, rich, and intricate. It takes time to fully understand and implement in our own home, but we can start with one of its basic principles: COLOR.

    the-5-elements-of-feng-shui

Color is one of the most powerful tools used in Feng Shui to create the energy one desires. Each color is an expression of one of the five Feng Shui Elements: WOOD, WATER, METAL, FIRE, AND EARTH. These different Elements interact with each other to create positive or negative energies, and the color is one of the easiest ways to control these interactions.

    The energies of different colors

    FIRE

    feng-shui-fire-element-red-sukhi-rug

Red is an expression of fire and is considered to be lucky and daring. Use it when you want an environment that is stimulating, such as in an office. But since it’s such a powerful color, you want to be careful with the amount of red you are using in a space. Small dosages, as an accent, are ideal!

Pink is also an expression of fire but is much more gentle and delicate than the others. It is the universal color of love which makes it a great option when you’re trying to soften the energy in any space. This is probably the reason why pink is a popular color for a nursery!

Purple is another expression of fire, and just like red, it’s good to use this color in moderation as it carries very strong vibrations. Adding Purple accents is seen as a good way to get a strong energy from the color without being overwhelmed. To decide between Purple or Red, think about whether you are trying to create an introverted or an extravagant atmosphere. Purple invokes a strong but quieter, intuitive or wise energy while Red is all about being bold and out there. So see what matches your personality and what you are trying to achieve best!

Orange also symbolizes fire, carrying more of the social, creative, and vibrant energies. It is often a great alternative color for an office if you find Red to be too overwhelming. It is a nice color to use on the walls in communal spaces or your entryway as it invokes openness and conversation.

    WATER

    feng-shui-water-element-blue-sukhi-rug

Blue represents water. Overall it is a color that evokes a calm and peaceful energy. It symbolizes trust and dependability while promoting creativity and contemplation. This makes it the perfect color to use in our bedroom, to create a peaceful place and get a good night’s rest, or to use in your children’s bedrooms as it gently encourages growth.

Black is an expression of water and holds power, protection, and mystery. While it is better to use this color in smaller quantities, as it can become heavy if used too much, it adds strength and definition to a room and provides a very grounding element.

    WOOD

    feng-shui-wood-element-green-sukhi-rug

Brown comes from both Wood and Earth depending on the shade. Overall it is a very grounding color that has nurturing and healing energies. It is great to use in an office or just placed around the house.

Green is the expression of wood and carries energies of balance, renewal, and growth. It is very calming to the nerves and brings balance to the whole body. When decorating with green make sure to use multiple different shades to maximize the Feng Shui energy effects. The best way to add green to your home is with natural plants.

    METAL

    feng-shui-metal-element-white-sukhi-rug

    @sarah_cocolapine

White symbolizes the Metal element, bringing clarity, precision, and purity into a room. Scientifically, White is a color that absorbs all colors. That is why an all-White room can be so satisfying to our human eye. We actually explored how to decorate all-white spaces on our Sukhi blog too! You can use White anywhere and it works especially well with brighter colors to create balance.

At Sukhi we love the Scandinavian look which is using the energy of Metal, Wood and Earth together: White, the Green of plants and Brown furniture from the Wood Element to create a very clear and balanced room.

Grey is an expression of the Metal Element. It brings a very calming and soothing energy to a room as it is all about clear-headedness and detachment. If you practice yoga or meditation in your daily life, Grey is a great color to use in these spaces.

    EARTH

    feng-shui-earth-element-yellow-sukhi-rug

Yellow expresses both Earth and Fire, depending on what shade you use. A strong Yellow is great for an office if you want subtle motivation with a calming element to it. A lighter Yellow adds nourishing and active energies to a place.

    What’s next

In the next article, we will take the next step: to understand how the five different Elements interact with each other and learn to use the Bagua, an energy map, to map out the energy in our house.

For now, take a moment to let the energy of colors sink in. And when you’re ready, make your way to part 2: Feng Shui for beginners, the energy map of your home.

  8. High pile rug vs. low pile rug: which one is best for you?

Choosing the right type of rug for your home may be a tricky job! It is a lot more than just picking something that ‘looks good’ or ‘feels nice.’ More than mere color and texture, when picking the ideal rug, you must also consider softness, maintenance, quality, warranties, and many other things. Whether a house calls for functional rugs to provide insulation during the cold winters, or a bunch of trendy rugs to add a pop of color, there are endless options! It is easy to feel lost and confused.

    choose-high-pile-or-low-pile-rug

So, in today’s Sukhi blog, we will answer one of those burning questions for you: how to decide if you need a high pile and low pile rug? We’ve tried to make this decision easier for you in today’s post. Let’s start with understanding what rug pile actually means, how a high pile and low pile rug differ and ultimately which one you should be choosing!

    Let’s jump right in.

    What is rug pile?

Rug pile is a term used to convey a rug's standard and measurable size as well as the density of the rug fibers. The difference in pile means the difference in density and measurements. Based on this difference, rugs are categorized as low pile, medium pile, and lastly, the high pile.

If you take a closer look at your rug, you'll notice the fabric loops that form the rug – that is what we generally refer to when we talk about rug pile. Rug fibers can be natural, synthetic, or a blend of both. Irrespective of their fiber types, colors and texture, the pile of the rug serves an important purpose. And high pile, although very popular, might not always be the best option for your home needs. To help you figure that out, let’s look at the main differences between high pile and low pile rugs.

A high pile or a low pile rug: what’s the difference?

A high pile rug has long and loose fiber, such as frieze carpet or a shag rug. At Sukhi, our high pile rugs are made of 100% pure wool but you can also find them made with synthetic materials like polyester, olefin, or nylon. While wool is an incredibly durable, stain-resistant and allergy-free material, you might find synthetic materials more appropriate for spaces such as the bathroom or outdoor settings.

On the other hand, low pile rugs are made of short-sized fibers and contain more tight fabric loops. Some common examples of low pile rugs are Saxony rugs and flat weave rugs. Interestingly, low pile rugs are the first choice for decorating houses, offices, and even hotels. Indeed, picking the right type of rug can drastically elevate the look of a place and improve the comfort level it provides.

    brown-flat-weave-rug-in-living-room

Who should get a high pile rug?

    For those looking for comfort

If it is comfort and coziness that you are searching for, then picking a high pile carpet is the best thing. They are so soft and offer a luxurious feel, like you are stepping onto a cloud! Based on this merit, all high pile rugs mostly go well in houses with bigger families with young children. Usually, in these types of households, comfort comes first to style or design. Choosing something plush and warm to walk on, something that gives a soft, soothing feeling, makes high pile rugs the ideal choice here.

    soft-low-pile-berber-rug-with-close-up

    @idascozycorner

    For family activities

Similarly, high-pile rugs are best suited if you want to enjoy some relaxing family-time. We all love spending time with our loved ones. High-pile rugs allow us to do exactly that and indulge in family-type activities like sitting together playing games, doing a puzzle or maybe even cartwheel! The reason is that these types of carpet have more of an ‘inviting’ appeal, which attracts people to them instantly.

To add a luxurious touch to your space

Lastly, rugs are more attractive and give a luxury look, which is definitely a plus point in room décor. For a deep, drastic, and calming touch, pick a rectangle high-pile rug or a round-shaped one, depending on the area and space.  If you don’t want to experiment too much, pick a more versatile rug that goes well with the high-traffic areas.

    luxurious-high-pile-rug-in-baby-room

Who should get a low pile rug?

For those looking for low-maintenance rugs

Low pile rugs don’t provide the exact same comfort level as high pile rugs do but, to make up for this, they’re the best in other departments! These types of rugs are more affordable, simple, and require almost no maintenance compared to high pile rugs.

    For the sensitive ones

Allergies and breathing difficulties are sometimes associated with rugs. For an allergic person, the first thing that a doctor recommends is to throw the rugs out.  It is because the fluffy rugs trap allergens roaming in the air, and without proper cleaning, they are highly likely to trigger an allergic reaction.

While high pile rugs can be a no-no for a person with allergies, low pile carpets may be a great alternative! This type of rug is free from contaminants in them, so there are minimum chances of causing an allergy. You can get your favorite interior design preference without having to sneeze your way out through the day!

    low-pile-turkish-rug-in-office-space

    For the busy bees

As mentioned before, the least maintenance is needed for low pile rugs. If you’re busy as a bumblebee, this rug is for you! Those who don’t have time to clean the house should go for low pile carpets because they require minimum aftercare. The short fibers and loops low pile rugs are least likely to get stains, dirt, and mud. Even if they do, cleaning them takes only a few minutes!

A trendy option among low pile rugs is sheep wool, flat weave rugs which make a perfect addition to anywhere. Wool carpets give an organic feeling to any room, and besides, they are never out of fashion.

Which rug is better: the high or low pile?

Both high and low pile rugs have their own advantages and disadvantages. The low pile option is simple, affordable, requires less maintenance, and has more variety in terms of designs and colors. Adding it to any room gives it a more natural touch. Cleaning them requires almost no effort and if you are someone who frequently moves, or changes their room’s fashion, dealing with low pile rugs is comparatively easy. Coming to durability, despite being more affordable, low pile runners and rugs are super durable. Anyone looking for interior design at a budget price, more durability, and less maintenance, then the low pile is the right choice for you.

High pile rugs are supreme for people living in big family setups and are looking for more warmth and comfort in the house. They look inviting in shared rooms, allowing all family members to enjoy the long fibers and fabric loops by touching, walking, or sitting on them. However, these rugs tend to be a bigger financial investment and require more maintenance than their low-pile counterpart. All in all, high pile rugs suit people with a comfortable budget and the preference for a lavish lifestyle.

Tips on picking the right rug

Now that you are clear about the differences between the high pile and low pile, here is something that will help you make a decision on buying them. Remember these four things before choosing any rug or carpet:

Measure the space and pile height

First, measure the space where you want to place the rug. After that, check the pile height and see which fits best for the given area. Generally, less than 6.35 mm is considered low, between 6.35 mm to 12.7 mm are considered medium, and between 12.7 mm to 19.05 mm are considered high pile rugs. Some plush rugs may even exceed this height measurement.

    Thickness doesn’t guarantee more comfort

Thick and fluffy rugs are comfy and soft- they're excellent daybeds. However, this doesn't mean that low pile rugs aren’t comfy! Low pile rugs can be as soothing as a bed of roses. Picking the right type of rug depends more on your usage, room décor and personal preference.  If you prefer comfort, don't limit your scan to high pile rugs- you might miss getting the rug that suits your needs best.

    soft-and-cozy-long-pile-rug-in-bedroom

    Shorter fibers are durable

Low pile rugs are made of small fibers that are often stronger than bigger fibers. That’s why they require less attention and last longer. No wonder why they hold their original shape, texture and the softness for years! If you keep your rug well-maintained, it will mostly likely just grow old with you.

    Don’t ignore the furniture

Although high pile carpets are softer and snugly, they are also susceptible to stains, dirt, and, more importantly, furniture placement. If you happen to use them underneath a table or chair, there are chances for legs to crush or mark the rugs, leaving them to look uninviting.

    Bonus tip for pet owners

If you have pets in the house, such as dogs or cats, long looped rugs are not suitable for your house. Pets like to scratch carpets, and their nails can get caught in your beautiful decorative rugs. It may cause an injury to your furry friend too, and we wouldn’t like that to happen at all. For households with pets, read our tips on picking a pet-friendly rug on our blog.

The right rug provides both comfort and aesthetic

Buying a rug is an investment that improves the visual aesthetic of your entire household. Adding it to a room can instantly transform its look. They can either blend well or make a room bland and boring, depending on the choices you make.

    What is a Boho Rug?

You’ll often see the term ‘boho’ used for describing a conventional yet ‘in fashion’ styling, mainly referring to music festivals such as Coachella and celebrities that dress up in certain trends. Boho, from the ‘bohemian,’ is a style that was initially associated with the popular hippie culture of the ’60s and ’70s. It absorbed many cultures, colors, and vibes as times passed. The boho home decor and art that you see today is a fine blend of famous fashion in 60 years.

Boho style rugs are full of arty insight, intricate details, and geometric patterns. They are famous worldwide for their wanderlust vibe and blending of colors. The patterns are usually a mixture of vivid and subdued colors, which give a wicked yet romantic touch to the whole setup. These rugs may look similar to the Persian style centerpieces, but boho is much less traditional than that. Interestingly, they can be used to suit many forms of trendy fashion.

Creative ways to use boho rugs

Rugs can completely transform any room, that’s for sure. Here’s some thinking out of the box: their usage is not confined to the floor alone! You can place them anywhere in the house, from the bedroom to the bathroom. Using rugs for a living area only is a weak stereotype that has already been broken by the best interior designers out there. Boho rugs can be placed everywhere!  The following are some creative ways to start your A-game decorating rooms with Bohemian style rugs.

    Boho rugs in the bedroom

Using hand-made rugs in the bedroom is always in fashion, but small-sized rooms are often ignored in terms of decoration. The size is not an excuse for not decorating a room at all! Especially if it is your bedroom. Try a fringed or an intersecting boho rug, which gives a perfect comfy feeling to the place. It symbolizes peace itself! You can also top the bed with a perfectly bedroom rug, preferably with fringes, which gives a pared-down expression. When you want to get into the bed, fold it up and place it on its lateral side. It is an innovative idea to use a boho rug during the hot and humid season when heavy duvet covers look discomforting.

Have you ever thought about having a boho rug as a bed headboard alternative? You can definitely use these rugs as décor pieces on the wall behind your bed. Choosing soft colors would give an illusion of expansive space and add up as an ornamental item.

    Boho rug in living room

Yes, everyone uses rugs in a living room, but the placement of a rug matters most. The most obvious use of rugs is as central pieces or in front of a sofa, but what if we tell you that there are more ways to use a boho rug? You can upgrade your sitting space without any help or money by draping the couch, chair, or the settee with any boho rug. It gives a fresh and smooth feel to the room. All you have to do is to find a rug that goes well with your design. Place the rug on the backset and lightly tuck it into the seam. Leave the tiny part of it hanging at the back, and when someone sits on that couch or chair, his weight will help retain the rug in its place.

Using the same ideas, you can add a comfy, woolen rug on an upholstered daybed. Just make sure that you pick something bigger than pillow or cushion size, or it wouldn’t pop up as desired. Add the mixed and matched cushions to complete the look; furry covers go best with a boho styled rug.

And don’t neglect your walls! Using rugs as wall hangings isn’t the newest idea, but once again: placement matters. Pick mats with a more defined border, such as the warm patterns, chevrons, stripes, or interwoven rugs.

If you are wondering how to style your open floor plan with multiple rugs, we got your back! Here’s a comprehensive blog post we wrote about it.

Boho rugs in the dining room

A boho rug adds a luxury look to any room, especially the dining area. And we all appreciate little glamour here and there. What is a better option than adding a hand-made carpet to a place where you enjoy your eating hours?

Add a vibrant piece of boho styled rug to the regular dining table as a middle piece. Even mismatched carpets look great if contrasted well, bringing a luxurious vibe. If you are buying new furniture to try out a new look, try natural and hand-painted dining sets to go with your rugs. They complete a modern dining area’s overall vibe! Place them on the floor or hang it to the walls, based on the color scheme and pattern, they will blend in superbly.

    Boho rugs in the kitchen

Following the conventional decoration scheme, two small-sized rugs are the best for full-sized kitchens since there are several lanes and counters in a big kitchen. A boho rug looks best when paired with matching kitchen chairs. Why not experiment a little when you have access to comfy and useful carpeting? Instead of the conventional styling, you can also pick a soft, woolen rug that is durable and easy to clean- just in case anything spills on it. The biggest reason people don’t use rugs in the kitchen is for fear of more stubborn stains. Fear no more! With wool boho rugs, washing them is the best thing to do—one can use these rugs on kitchen floors even with the predictable kitchen spills.

For a narrow kitchen, pick a multicolor or stripy design, to give a spacious look. You can pretty much use everything that goes well with your color scheme and personal likings. For more creative souls, hang a beautiful boho rug on your kitchen wall to completely transform its appearance!

How to choose the right boho rug

Based on where you plan to use them, buying boho rugs can be tricky. Here are a few things to notice before making up your mind.

Pattern: It is easy to style with simple patterns when you are styling the floors. Boho rugs offer an amazing variety of detailed patterns which have their own unique characters. Picking a pattern that doesn’t obstruct the visual field is ideal. Patterns that cause illusions are straining to the eyes, making the whole room ‘noisy’ and ‘loud’ so make sure that you are choosing ones that complement and elevate your space.

Shape: the layering of rugs increases the coziness factor. Indeed, choosing the right shape adds up to the visual engagement. The general rule is to use a rectangle rug in a rectangle-shaped room and a square rug in a square-ish room. Playing with shapes is artistic, exciting, and appealing, but requires careful stylistic skills. Also, make sure to measure the space and furniture first before buying a rug.

Style: The depth and warmness of a rug help highlight any space. Ensure that the style compliments the other embellishments, paint, wallpaper, and furniture of the room. Sometimes a white or cream boho rug with detailed texture works wonders!

Color: Introducing a rug not only adds comfort but also adds color to any space in the house. Choosing the right color is integral for flawless interior design. Colors that are too bright complicate the overall view, and ones too bland are almost unnoticed in a room. Playing with colors gives birth to innovation, but choosing too many colors would be a problem, especially if they are all vibrant.

Size: Whichever rug you are interested in, remember to pick the right size that fits the room well. If you are looking for a centerpiece for the floor, make sure that you pick a slightly bigger size than the border of your table. If the table legs are placed outside the rug’s zone, your beautiful rugs patterns will be shadowed entirely. For a walled rug, measure your wall, and buy something that fits the space. Likewise, pick something that is neither too small nor too big for the furniture, such as a sofa, daybed, and seats.

Boho rugs will elevate any living space!

To sum up, the right choice of boho rug will give a new shine to the entire house. Never ignore this amazing, affordable embellishment if you want a beautiful interior.  Now, you can start looking for the perfect rug to place in your happy home. By the end of this blog post, we hope to have convinced you that round rugs don’t need to be scary - they are, in fact, a really cool way to differentiate yourself from others and bring more charm into your home.

So, are you ready to learn more about round rugs and how to style them? Let’s get right into it then!

When should you choose a round rug?

The most popular rug shape is, of course, the rectangle rug. We see them everywhere: in the living room, under the dining table, and in the narrow hallway.

But sometimes you need a beautiful round rug to create a lovely composition. Round rugs work well with certain furniture or in certain places, like nurseries or study rooms. Small round rugs are also ideal for layering or defining an area like creating a reading place with your favorite armchair. But more on how to style these unique rugs later.

Nowadays, round rugs are getting more attention than ever. At Sukhi, we’ve definitely seen a spike in demand for our round felt ball rugs, for instance. These unique hand-made rugs from Nepal come in a lot of available sizes, rich colors, and breathtaking patterns. And just like most of our rugs, you can entirely customize them to match your design preference and style. These have made these round rugs a popular choice for many customers from all around the world!

7 reasons why round rugs are the right choice for your space

Now that you have seen how popular round rugs are, you probably feel keener on trying it yourself. But if you are still on the fence or wondering how round rugs can create a magical decor in your home, we have you covered! Here are 7 easy yet effective ways they do. You’ll never look at a round rug the same way ever again!

    1. Round rugs soften and deepen any area

We’re surrounded by rectangular objects, walls, and furniture pieces in our homes, especially if our home is styled in a modern, industrial way. Such houses and apartments need something that’ll cleverly soften the space and make any area feel more intimate, deep, and personal. That’s a job round rugs do amazingly well.

The reason why you want to soften those hard lines is not simply for the aesthetic. In fact, Chi, energy flow, moves in a circular motion. Round rugs allow Chi to flow freely into your space creating good Feng Shui in your home.

    2. Round rugs create a cohesive look

Do you have many circular objects in a room that look kind of disconnected? Well, a round rug can connect all of them in a unique way without it looking overwhelming. It does a pretty amazing job! To match your specific needs, choosing a custom round rug in fresh, bright colors can be a real jackpot for such rooms and areas. It serves as a central point of the room that successfully connects all furniture pieces, lighting, shapes, and overall architecture of the area, creating a harmonious living space.

    3. Round rugs can dress up a corner

If you are more of a minimalist, you will probably love the Wabi Sabi design style. In Wabi Sabi, interior designers choose to decorate a corner of the room, this is known as the “one-corner” style. We believe that a round rug can help you achieve this successfully!

To achieve the “one-corner” style, start by dressing up the corner of your room with your favorite armchair or table and delicately place a luxurious round rug underneath it to highlight the area. We propose going for a soft Beni Ourain rug. Your bare feet will feel like they’re stepping on a cloud!

    4. Round rugs are great for layering

Ever wondered how to combine multiple rugs in an open floor plan? Layer them up by mixing and matching different shape rugs! Try adding a patterned rug on top of (or vice-versa) a plain, more neutral rug and see how much visual impact this creates. The perfect patterned rug to work with is an oriental rug. This rug is absolutely beautiful and draws attention to its eye-catching design and quality.

A round rug can sit nicely on top of or next to a rectangular rug. Round rugs are also a great way to delineate a statement chair, table or other pieces of furniture in the living space.

    5. Round rugs add warmth and texture

Who doesn’t like it when their home looks warm and cozy? We thought so! But all these rich feelings of texture, depth, and warmth aren’t always easy to create. That’s when a round rug steps in.

To add warmth and texture to your room place your round rug over your ceramic, tiles, or laminate floors. This will make your room pop and keep you cozy during the winter months, for sure!

    6. Round rugs make small rooms more open

Whatever color and pattern you choose, if you place a round rug in a small space, it’ll surely create the effect of a visually bigger area. These rugs will make the room more open, bright, and airy while softening any hard edges of your furniture.

As an additional bonus, you and your kids will love laying on it the whole day. Round rugs are an incredible addition to nurseries and can create a cute small play zone for your little ones (and yourself!). Like our round multicolored felt ball rug that is made of pure wool from New Zealand making it soft and safe for your baby to roll, crawl and sleep on!

    7. Round rugs draw attention to the desired area

Round rugs can draw attention to any part of the room you like, creating an intimate conversation area. This way, they become the focal point of the space and enhance the coziness of the whole room. This is something you’ll probably want to do in your living room so that you can awe your guests with a magnificent heirloom rug. We promise that you will never have to think about good conversation-starters again with an amazing round rug in your living room!

How to choose a round rug for your space

So, you’re pretty much convinced that a round rug is the right choice for you. But now the question is: what size should you get? Indeed, when it comes to rugs, size does matter!

When you choose a round rug, remember to go bigger instead of smaller. It is better to have all your couches, sofas, and chairs sit comfortably on top of the rug (with a few inches to spare) or, at least, have the front legs on the rug. You, also, always want the round rug to be larger than the round table or any other curvy furniture you are placing it under.
